Nutrients and benefits
Fibre
Pumpkin is rich in fibre to support healthy digestion. Including fibre in your dogs daily bowl will help to regulate the bowel, improve consistency and prevent constipation and loose stools. Fibre may support with improved absorption of nutrients and can regulate blood sugar.
Inulin
Inulin is a nutrient found in chicory root, which is a natural prebiotic that can help support the growth of good bacteria in the gut. When the digestive tract has a healthy level of good bacteria, nutrients are more readily absorbed and distributed throughout the body.
Glucosamine & Chondroitin
Glucosamine is a combination of ‘glucose’, a sugar, and ‘glutamine’, an amino acid. It helps form and repair cartilage. Together, they’re ideal for building healthy joints and resisting joint tissue breakdown - particularly crucial for our senior pets and puppies. Beef, lamb, poultry, and bones are a good source of these nutrients.
Omega-3 fatty acids
Omega-3 fatty acids are found throughout the body, especially the brain and eyes. These nutrients are crucial for supporting healthy brain function, growth, and development, particularly for puppies. They also play an important role in helping your dog's blood vessels, heart, immune system, and lungs work properly. Omega-3 fattty acids also support healthy skin and coat.
Calcium
Calcium builds and maintains strong bones. But it’s also needed for the heart, muscles, and nerves to function properly. In the wild, cats and dogs would eat bones along with meat to get the calcium they need. We think they have the right idea, so ZIWI Peak recipes include ground bone to reflect what your pet would eat in the wild.
Phosphorus
Phosphorus is essential in the formation of bones and teeth, so essential for our young pups and kittens. It is needed to make protein so the body can grow, repair, and maintain its cells. Phosphorus also helps the body make ATP, a molecule the body uses to store energy. Phosphorus is found in bony raw materials, which is why ZIWI Peak recipes include ground bone.
Feeding Guide
Because ZIWI Peak is so nutrient-dense, you might be feeding less volume compared to some other foods. Check our feeding calculator for more information.
Transition
Mixing ZIWI Peak® with your pet's existing food over 7 days – adding a little more each day, up to their recommended daily amount – can really help with the switch. Remember to reduce the amount of the old food to allow for the introduction of the ZIWI.
ZIWI is different from many other pet foods – because it is so nutrient-dense, you’ll be feeding less volume compared to other foods which are packed with fillers.
